| In January of 2001, a guild was formed on the Saryrn server in Everquest called Dragonchow. It was a unique guild, in that it strives for, and has achieved, excellence in raiding and yet maintains a casual, friendly atmosphere where participation in guild events is not required. This fostered a close-knit group of friends who shared many a great adventure and success, but after four years, some were looking for a change. Before World of Warcraft was released, some members of Dragonchow entered the beta and found it to their liking. When WoW was released in November 2004, a handful of Dragonchow members began playing the game full time and soon established Scotch and Soda, a name that Yhak threw out into game chat, where it stuck: "So many of you are probably wondering how the name came to pass, eh? Well, it's no secret that many of the old Dragonchow chums who formed the guild are fans of a hearty cocktail every now and then, but that actually had very little to do with selecting the name. I am a huge fan of the T.V. show, "The Sopranos". During season 3, there was an episode where Ralphie, a capo in the New Jersey family, was totally addicted to the movie "Gladiator". At a barbeque, Ralphie walks up to Tony, the "boss" of the NJ family, and a few other of the gangsters. He puffs out his chest, claps Tony on the shoulder, and says "Strength, and Honor". Tony replies by handing Ralphie his empty cocktail glass and orders "Scotch, and Soda. Fast-forward to when our guild was formed - we decided that we'd pass on using our old guildname from Everquest, because many of our leaders and old friends hadn't migrated over to WoW (yet). While we were chatting, I was making my way over to Orgrimmar for the first time from Mulgore (around level 9 or so). The first Orc I hailed replied with "Strength, and Honor.", to which I replied in our chat channel "Scotch, and Soda". For some reason, Bunga and Cautious thought that would make a terrific guild name, and Bunga purchased the charter about 10 minutes later." The name Scotch and Soda seems a silly name for a high fantasy game, but that was exactly why it was chosen. Scotch and Soda, like WoW itself, is not to be taken too seriously and the name reflects this. Everyone is here to have fun, and honestly, who sounds like they have more fun a guild with a name like Lords of Might, or a guild called Scotch and Soda? The guild was formed by Bunga and Cautious, formally known in EQ as Dragonchow's raid leaders Radalas and Gnawbone. Currently the mantle of guild leadership is held by Kantankerous. Officers appointed are: Adiastas, Derkaderka, Eclyps, Lacrosse, Tenjin, Kulokus, Facelift, and Harlyquin. Former guild leaders are Bunga, Cautious, Jhaelen, Derkaderka, and Adiastas. Former officers include Yhak, Mystikka, Raesputin, Blu, Zorch, Harvardlaw, Fangora and Morgull. On the Whisperwind server, in the land of Azeroth, Scotch and Soda seeks to continue its legacy of fostering a friendly, comfortable atmosphere where friends meet friends each night, and yet still have the skill to challenge the raid level encounters.
